why family photography is so important to me
I started photographing families when I was 14. That was over 10 years ago now and I now am married and mama to the sweetest little boy. I always wanted to capture the little details but now that I have my own, I realize that time is fleeting even more than before. They say the days are long and the years are short and I wholeheartedly believe that because I now live that with a little one in my arms. One day he won't be able to fit in my arms anymore. One day he'll surpass me in height and maybe even one day he'll be dancing with me on his wedding day. I want him to live life to the fullest but I don't want to forget these little years and all moments between him being born into my arms to having a family of his own.
Photographs help freeze moments in time to look back on for years and generations to come. We look back at our parents and grandparents photos to get a glimpse of what life was like for them. We don't remember what our little years were like but photos can jog our memories of that trip to the beach or time at the zoo with friends. Photographs can bring sad memories to mind but still things we want to remember.
Our kids will one day grow up and photographs are one of the only tangible things we will have to remember all the growing up years by. They can prompt stories and bring tears. They can help us better savor and remember what it was like. That is why I do what I do. I aim to capture these for you so you can live in the moment and look back one day and remember.
